Portland has been retained as fuel advisor by haulage firm Eddie Stobart Ltd (ESL) for more than 8 years, having initially conducted a managed tender on ESL’s 100m litre + supply requirement in 2016. This initial process compared the benefits of delivered-in supply against an ex-rack approach (i.e. in-house tankers utilised to collect product from refinery/terminal locations), with Portland going to market on ESL’s behalf to obtain quotations for each model.
Portland’s final recommended strategy resulted in savings of over £250k per annum and helped to optimise the operational efficiency of ESL’s fleet. Following the successful establishment of ESL’s new procurement strategy, Portland continues to work with the business on an ongoing, retained basis, covering a wide range of advisory services. ESL has provided the following testimonial:
